1. Basic introduction of 430 stainless steel
Definition and classification: 430 stainless steel is a stainless steel grade produced according to the American ASTM standard. The domestic similar type is 1Cr17 stainless steel, which belongs to ferritic stainless steel.
Other names: Due to its chromium content, it is also called 18/0 or 18-0.
Chemical composition
Carbon (C): content ≤0.12%, lower carbon content helps to reduce the tendency of intergranular corrosion.
Silicon (Si): content ≤0.75%, can improve the strength and hardness of steel, and at the same time enhance the oxidation resistance of steel to a certain extent.
Manganese (Mn): content ≤1.00%, can improve the strength and toughness of steel.
Phosphorus (P): content ≤0.040%, phosphorus is a harmful element, too high content will reduce the toughness and corrosion resistance of steel.
Sulfur (S): content ≤0.030%, sulfur is also a harmful element, which will make steel hot brittle and reduce the quality of steel.
Nickel (Ni): content ≤ 0.60% (can be included), nickel element can improve the corrosion resistance and toughness of steel, but the nickel content in 430 stainless steel is relatively low.
Chromium (Cr): content is 16.00%-18.00%, which is the main element of 430 stainless steel with corrosion resistance. It can form a dense oxide film on the surface of steel to prevent the internal metal from being further oxidized and corroded.
2. Performance characteristics
Corrosion resistance:
It has certain corrosion resistance, has strong corrosion resistance to oxidizing acids, and has certain corrosion resistance to alkali solutions and most organic acids and inorganic acids, but its corrosion resistance in salty and acidic environments is not as good as 304 stainless steel.
Mechanical properties:
The density is 7.70g/cm³, the melting point is about 1427℃, the strength is relatively low, and the work hardening ability is not very high, but it has good deep drawing performance.
Physical properties:
The thermal conductivity is worse than that of austenitic stainless steel, the thermal expansion coefficient is smaller than that of austenitic stainless steel, it is resistant to heat fatigue and has high oxidation resistance.
Processing performance:
The appearance and brightness of cold-rolled products are good, but the tensile performance and welding performance are poor. After the stretching process, strip defects are easy to appear on the surface in the rolling direction.
3. Surface treatment and state
1D (matte):
The surface has discontinuous granularity, and the processing technology is hot rolling + annealing shot peening pickling + cold rolling + annealing pickling.
2D:
It is slightly shiny silvery white, and the processing technology is hot rolling + annealing shot peening pickling + cold rolling + annealing pickling.
2B:
It is silvery white and has better gloss and flatness than 2D surface. The processing technology is hot rolling + annealing shot peening pickling + cold rolling + annealing pickling + tempering rolling.
BA (mirror plate):
The surface gloss is excellent and has a high reflectivity, like a mirror surface. The processing technology is hot rolling + annealing shot peening pickling + cold rolling + annealing pickling + surface polishing + tempering rolling.
No.4:
It has good glossiness and fine lines on the surface. The processing technology is to polish and temper 2D products or 2B with 150-180 abrasive materials (JIS R6002).
4. Application fields
Architectural decoration field: used for building interior decoration, such as door and window frames, decorative strips, stair handrails, etc. Its good appearance and certain corrosion resistance can meet the needs of architectural decoration.
Home appliance field: widely used in home appliance parts, such as microwave oven liner, refrigerator shelf, washing machine inner barrel, etc., using its thermal conductivity, oxidation resistance and certain corrosion resistance, and can also meet the appearance requirements of home appliance products.
Kitchenware field: Because it is safe and non-toxic, it is often used to make some food tableware, such as dinner plates, bowls, spoons, etc., and can also be used to make kitchen utensils, such as spatulas, chopping boards, etc.
Other fields: It can also be used for fuel burner parts, bicycle flywheels, hot water tanks, hot water supply systems, sanitary appliances, etc. In some occasions where corrosion resistance is not particularly high but cost is more sensitive, 430 stainless steel is an ideal material.
